This position will be located in either Eagan, Minnesota or Omaha, Nebraska.


Job Summary:

This position provides a very high degree of technical knowledge in application systems development, and provides technical consultative advice and instruction to departmental and non-departmental personnel.
Responsibilities include the design, development, testing, and documentation of complex application business solutions using CA’s 2E tooling. Activities include Investigating, identifying, and resolving complex business application system issues and proposed functional changes. In-depth or expert knowledge of 2E model management and development techniques is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Research and recommend changes where technology can be better used within the overall systems environment to improve efficiency, lower costs, and enhance the quality of business applications

  • Assist management in making strategic decisions regarding software and hardware use. Participate in the early stages of large project development to ensure consistent approaches in the technical design across projects/programs

  • Develop and apply 2E development theories and methods to solve complex technical problems. Code or modify, test, and debug programs of difficult complexity. Install software into production environment following change control methodology.

  • Lead technical teams in the design development and deployment of custom 2E based applications.

  • Ensure architecture and design principals are adhered to and implemented as intended

  • Coordinate technical initiatives across departments/portfolios

  • Mentor or technicians in the interpretation of architectural principal and in the application of 2E and related technologies

  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs

  • Maintain regular written communications on project status with Team lead and IT management

  • Troubleshoot production problems within assigned software applications

  • Establish best practices for 2E model management and application development

  • Lead design and code review sessions for 2E and related development


    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 13 years extensive technical experience in a variety of IT areas, including: 5+ years of CA 2E/Synon experience 5+years of systems analysis and development experience


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of CA/2E and iSeries concepts

  • Ability to perform impact analysis utilizing 2E and other third party tools such as X-Analysis or Hawkeye

  • Strong problem solving and business analysis skills

  • Expert understanding of the IBM iSeries, computer software, hardware, and database concepts and issues

  • Solid technical writing experience including the development of technical documents and proposals

  • Ability to mentor and lead small technical teams through design walkthroughs, code reviews, unit and system tests
