The Network Security Engineer will provide technical security support services such as analysis and development of security architecture, configuration, deployment and operations or security appliances and devices such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, network sensors, etc., and ensuring security considerations are fully integrated into Network Security Upgrade Program (NSUP) components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility and ownership/accountability of actions taken.
The Network Security Engineer/Systems Analyst II (SA II) will have appropriate experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and certifications in Information Security. Specifically, the SA II will possess within 6 months of assignment and will maintain a certification required to satisfy DoD 5570.01M "Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program" for IAT or IAM Level II. Additionally, the SA II will possess a strong working knowledge of information security concepts such as networking, network segmentation, firewalls, IDS, and log handling for incident detection and response. The Systems Analyst II will provide technical security support services such as analysis and development of security architecture, configuration, deployment and operations or security appliances and devices such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, network sensors, etc., and ensuring security considerations are fully integrated into NSUP components.
The Network Security Engineer/SA II will be responsible for the following:
Attending NSUP Meetings, and working with CDC Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO), ITSO, and other CDC staff in the discussion and development of plans for the implementation of NSUP.
Collecting, organizing, and reporting information necessary to prepare data calls related to NSUP.
Supporting research, development, evaluation and testing of NSUP security architecture and software activities as directed.
Ongoing operation, maintenance and user support of cyber security tools including, but not limited to, firewalls, scanning tools and systems, traffic analyzers, sniffers, asset management and vulnerability management tools, forensics tools, etc. All processes should be documented with SOPs for repeatable activities.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and three years experience in Information Security or Information Assurance
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Driver's License
Must possess or be able to obtain a minimum of Secret Clearance
Must possess and maintain at least one of the one of the following certifications within 6 months of assignment: GSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP, GSLC, CISM, or CISSP (or Associate)
