Job Summary:
The Programmer develops, administers, maintains, and supports policies and procedures for ensuring the functionality and accuracy of the programs used to spider job data from external sites. Familiar with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the labor market industry as well as job services concepts. Relies on direction and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supports and documents new development of spidering robot programs (bots) to quickly and accurately extract data from external websites
Ensures all bots meet full QA standards
Ensures assigned bots are fully functional and identifies and resolves problems when they are not
Uses SQL to analyze data returned by bots to determine what maintenance is needed
Trains more junior developers in the use of the internal software
Know what situations require the implementation and use of a proxy
Understands the basic terminology related to job spidering (ONET, NAICS, etc…)
Able to maintain an average of 70 – 175 bot repairs per week with minimal QA issues (depends on experience and the mix of large/medium/small bots)
May be required to perform manual bot QA with reasonable speed and accuracy
As experience grows will have a basic understanding of the bot library, robo-servers, and balancing issues
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of computer programming methodologies
Good analytical skills
Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software
Basic knowledge of web technologies and programming languages
Basic SQL knowledge
Capable of writing basic SQL queries to check on the results of assigned bots and basic tables used to store job data
Candidates with Associates or Bachelors degrees in an IT specialty are preferred (GPA must be 3.0 or above)
Compensation/Benefits: Pay commensurate with experience. Full benefits package including PAID health insurance for individual employee, dental, vision, 401K (after 1 year), accrue 18 PTO days per yr, 8 paid Holidays per yr, and a fun, fast-paced, casual-dress work environment!.
