Note: This position has some weekend hours.
The hours worked are usually 10:00am-2:00pm. Shift pay is applicable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
(This may not include all of the duties assigned.)
Room Patients.
Obtain brief patient history and complaint.
Order x-rays when appropriate.
Assist with office procedures.
Provide telephone advice to patients as directed.
Communicate with providers regarding patient calls.
Call in prescription refills as directed.
Schedule hospital and office tests, procedures and surgeries.
Communicate with hospitals and other offices as directed by the providers.
Complete referral forms, and make referral appointments.
Act as a liaison for physicians.
Update the medical record by filing dictation and test results as they return to the department.
Pre-certify for surgical procedures and tests.
Assist physicians with scheduling.
Facilitate completion of forms (ex. W/C, insurance, etc by the physicians.)
Requirements
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Must display excellent teamwork
Excellent communication skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
CMA with current Wisconsin license preferred or Medical Assistant experience.
Prefer Pediatric experience, however, willing to train the right person.
Phlebotomy experience helpful but not required.
Current CPR certification.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 250 pounds as needed for patient transfer (with assistance or other staff). Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
