This position is located in Montgomery, AL and relocation would be required.
Advertiser Media Group seeks an innovative leader to serve as the Director of Production/IT. This position leads the production, commercial print and IT functions for the Montgomery Advertiser and its subsidiary publications. The position has seven direct reports, and the equivalent of 69 full-time employees. The position is also responsible for all safety programs, including building maintenance, manages all commercial printing operations and oversees the IT team. The director must possess strong leadership skills and is essential to the safe production and distribution of quality products. The position is an integral member of the Newspaper’s Operating Committee. The director will have a proven record of accomplishment in team development, staff motivation and putting the company’s core values into action. Position reports to the President and Publisher.
· Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of team development, leadership and staff motivation, along with project management skills.
· Innovation leadership - forward planning and researching of new technologies, structures and techniques to produce and distribute high quality products with great efficiency.
· Management of daily operations, work with Finance on budgetary requests; and, HR on employee relations issues, and policy implementation along with Disaster Recovery.
· Employee development by challenging the staff, providing leadership opportunities and by providing the tools, techniques, training and resources to expand their knowledge.
Dedicated to exceptional customer service to all employees, customers and vendors, in addition to outstanding reproduction quality.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Five-to-ten years newspaper experience with at least three years in senior newspaper leadership.
· Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
· Knowledge of existing equipment and systems is very valuable.
· Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
· Ability to lead and develop managers and possess strong operational skills for this multi-product department.
· Knowledge of Production-related technologies is essential.
· Knowledge of the newspaper distribution process as well as an understanding and commitment to customer service is vital.
· Critical thinking and implementation of resolutions for production process is crucial.
