In the 30 years of service, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) has been a leading partner in the growth of a vigorous health care industry. STBTC serves over 100 hospitals and clinics in 43 South Texas counties. In addition to recruiting, collecting, processing, testing and distributing blood components, STBTC operates a certified tissue bank, houses the Texas Cord Blood Bank and also serves as a National Marrow Donor Program registration site.

QualTex Laboratories performs the testing services that were formerly performed under the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center name. QualTex Laboratories screens millions of whole blood and plasma donations for infectious agents each year for biotechnology companies locally and across the globe, which requires unique regulatory oversight. QualTex Laboratories, an affiliate of STBTC, is registered as a clinical laboratory provider by both state and federal agencies. Additionally; it is one of the world's largest plasma testing centers.

Blood Center Director / Facility Administrator
for our new Norcross, GA location.

QualTex Laboratories is dedicated to supporting global public safety with the timely delivery of high quality testing services for patients, donors, and regulated Biological Products.  We are an Independent not-for-profit laboratory that utilizes state-of-the-art technologies with competitive turn-around times.  We provide customer confidentiality and customizable solutions to include backup testing contracts. 



Position Summary: Responsible to manage, supervise, and coordinate the daily operations of QualTex Laboratories remote location to include:  Accessioning, Processing Lab, NAT Lab, and Support Services.  Manage QualTex as an efficient, effective, and financially sound organization.  Implement policies approved by the Board of QualTex through the development and application of sound management principles.  Review technical procedures concerning laboratory testing and all other practices and procedures related to technical operations.  Ensure QualTex is appropriately staffed with adequately trained, competent personnel working directly under qualified professional supervision.  Ensure quality assurance throughout QualTex.  Serve as a spokesperson for QualTex in all matters relating to the media and other organizations at the remote site.  Also ensure that all services meet the standards of nationally recognized professional licensing and accrediting organizations.

 

Responsibilities / Expectations for the Blood Center Director / Facility Administrator include: 

  • Manage and organize activities for QualTex Laboratories remote location.
  • Ensure competence of all staff performing testing.
  • Ensure that all laboratory testing is performed accurately.
  • Assist with the development of new testing protocols.
  • Maintain the overall efficiency of laboratories.
  • Participate in internal and external audits/inspections. 
  • Perform and/or facilitate corrective and preventive actions in response to audits /inspections.
  • Oversee the management of workforce staffing for departments and assure timely delivery of all test reports.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of organizational budget and control all resources within the location.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to team-oriented work projects for the development and implementation of validations, process improvements, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain and assure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and all company policies.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports that measure and monitor organizational performance.
  • Interview and make recommendations in regards to hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for personnel.
  • Ensure all QualTex’s physical property is in good operating condition. 
  • Maintain a close working relationship with QualTex Vice Presidents, Executive Vice President, & CEO/Medical Director.
  • Demonstrate utilization of  performance excellence principles
  • Display positive leadership skills and champion management directives with department employees by committing to and embracing the mission, vision, and core values of QualTex Laboratories:
  • Participate in continuing education and attend meetings as required.

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional Weekends

    Job Requirements


    Requirements for the Blood Center Director / Facility Administrator include:


    Education / Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in  Applied Sciences or equivalent required MBA preferred
    • Computer skills preferred.
    • Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions.

    Knowledge / Experience:

    • Six years clinical laboratory experience required
    • Five years management experience required
    • Computer experience required
    • Three years driving experience with good driving record required

    Licensure / Certifications:

    • Certified MT (CLS) or equivalent preferred
    • Categorical Specialty Certifications preferred
    • Georgia Operators Driver’s License required
    • US Passport preferred
