The Guest Service Insurance Specialist provides insurance and service support to the dialysis facilities to help support and retain patients. The Guest Service Insurance Specialist is responsible to provide guidance and information to patients on insurance and the implication of different insurance options allowing the patient to make informed insurance decisions. Guest Service Insurance Expert's primary focus is on patients ensuring that their insurance questions are addressed and resolved.
The Guest Service Insurance Specialist may also be involved in supporting the team through mentoring other team members, being involved in special projects, marketing to new patients and acting as liaisons and experts on specific topics affecting the Insurance Management program.
What you do is vitally important at DaVita-and in the lives of our patients and their families. As part of our professional team of Guest Services Insurance Support Specialists, you will ensure the compassionate, professional delivery in assisting our patients and teammates with Government Healthcare Insurance matters. Including, but not limited to:
- Proactively build patient relationships, ultimately resulting in Patient Retention
- Coach patients on coverage options, implications of various insurance options and providing information to help patients make informed decisions
- Act as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing office and the corporate office to resolve patient insurance issues and/or concerns
- Ensure patients have full coverage
- Provide high level customer support to primarily Government Healthcare Insurance patients, but also to include Medicare No Secondary, Commercial Patients, Medicare/Uninsured patients
- Report on patient portfolio

To star in this role, candidates MUST have:
- A strong foundation with commercial insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, etc)
- Ability to travel up to 75% LOCALLY (within 50-100 miles) - mileage reimbursed
- Presentation and reporting skills
- Service Excellence driven with a passion for patient care
- Effective problem solving and consulting skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Personal values in line with DaVita's values of Service Excellence, Integrity, Team, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Fulfillment & Fun
We highly prefer:
- 2+ years in healthcare, working with clinical teams and patients
- Basic understanding of Medicare and Medicaid insurance coverage
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
