Description

Project Description:  In 2007, an enterprise wide data warehouse project was begun in order to address the needs of the business users to have direct, timely, and accurate access to detailed data that was needed to make solid business decisions.  Ultimately, this data warehouse would bring together data from Farm Family (FF), home office in Albany, New York, American National Property & Casualty (ANPAC), in Springfield, Missouri, and American National Insurance Company (ANICO), in Galveston, Texas. This multi-million dollar project is in the second year and has already seen a successful implementation of the client and account information for all lines of business and by the end of this year, will incorporate personal and commercial automobile policy data.  Home, Rental Owners, and the Special Farm Policy are in the planning stages and will be added in 2010, with several more development phases to follow.  The base layer resides in DB2 with the access layer in SQL Server with COGNOS as the BI tool.  If you enjoy managing a data warehouse project, with a team of 12 to 15 permanent staff, then this job may be right for you.

Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

·        Oversight of data design, multi-dimensional database architecture, including metadata 
         and repository creation. 

·        Responsible for leading data warehouse team in development and enhancements of the
         data warehouse user interfaces.

·        Responsible for oversight of establishing and documenting user requirements.

·        Responsible for overseeing the creation, maintenance, and documentation of standards
         and procedures related to end user and internal interface development.

·        Responsible for coordinating with mainframe and open systems personnel on technical
         issues and system architecture definitions. 

·        Translates high-level work plans and converts to detailed assignments for team
         members. 

·        Monitors status of assignments and reviews work for completion and quality.

·        Develops project plans to budget, manage project change and project reporting.   

·        Communicate with senior management to manage expectations and build client
         relationships.

·        Deliver projects on time and within budget. 

·        Act as business liaison partner with business sponsor and stakeholders to develop the 
         business case, and provide input on tactical direction.
