Sr. Manager, Corporate Strategy
The Senior Manager of Corporate Strategy works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to drive the strategic development of Walmart.com. His/Her key responsibilities include identifying, researching, and developing significant growth opportunities for Walmart.com (new lines of business, M&A opportunities, strategic investments, joint ventures), developing robust investment-grade business cases, advocating, presenting and gaining senior level support for new business proposals (with senior level executives both inside and outside the company), and creating and delivering regular communication of the company’s strategic plan to SVP/EVP/President level executives at Wal-Mart. 1. Strategic planning (40%)
Work closely with the CEO in developing company’s plans for strategic growth. This includes identifying trends and growth opportunities in the ecommerce market; identifying strategic gaps in the market and researching opportunities to address these gaps. Present ideas and findings to senior management for further development.
Evaluate and make recommendations on company’s short and long term growth strategies.
Evaluate market trends and develop senior level contacts in the e-commerce community (VCs, technology companies, etc) for the purpose of understanding emerging trends and identifying possible future partners.
Liaison to Wal-Mart, Inc. corporate strategy including providing input to the annual Board of Director’s book and other corporate strategy work.
2. Develop and incubate new business opportunities (40%)
Identify potential M&A/Joint Venture/Partnership & new business model opportunities to drive $10billion + in revenue growth over the next 5 years
Critically evaluate these opportunities and develop robust, investment grade business cases. Business cases will include: projected revenue, financial model, five year strategic plan, identified resources and requirements needed to execute and the go-to-market strategy. Present business case to leadership for decision making.
Once an identified opportunity has been approved for development, the Sr. Manager will drive the development, incubation, and execution of new business opportunities as the general manager.
3. Communication and leadership with Senior Executives (20%)
Provide analytical support for CEO and Executive team presentations.
Responsible for the regular communication of the Walmart.com strategic plan and growth opportunities to senior level executives (EVP/President) both internally and externally.
Develop executive level presentations that succinctly and persuasively communicate the strategic plan.Knowledge, skills & abilities:

2) Minimum educational level:
B.A., preferably in business related field
MBA preferred
3) Experience:
5+ years in strategic planning, management consulting, business or financial analysis.
Must have performed significant amounts of business case development
Must have significant experience building complex business models
Familiarity with retail sector and ecommerce preferred
4) Physical Requirements:
Some travel required
