Job Summary

The Seal Guide’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Narrating a scripted sightseeing tour of approximately 90 minutes in duration up to 4 times daily on an amphibious vehicle on busy public streets and in busy waterways

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Shall be able to memorize a scripted story and relay it in an entertaining manner in the time allowed on a moving amphibious vehicle.
  • Must be heard in a clear, audible voice by an audience.
  • Must perform and participate in required Coast Guard training and emergency drills to ensure a safe tour for our guests.
  • Be knowledgeable of first mate functions and duties on a boat and in the event of an emergency, assist the Captain by keeping the guests calm, entertained and out of the Captain’s way as well as carrying out requests made by the Captain such as, but not limited to, deploying anchor, lowering the ladder or using the radio to maintain contact with other marine watercraft and Coast Guard officials when SEAL Captain is unable to maintain radio contact. 
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining a professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Must be able to board and exit the amphibious vehicle and assist patrons boarding and exiting the amphibious vehicle.
  • Shall be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Shall be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate with fellow CASTmembers, the general public, law enforcement and emergency personnel.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs multiple times each day, lift 50 pounds to a height of 45 inches and carry it 10 yards and tolerate a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.


Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent is preferred
  • Must pass a CPR/ First Aid training course provided by employer.
