Youth Counselor (Waianae), Administrative Assistant (Honolulu)


Catholic Charities Hawai'i is an organization long trusted in the community for our innovative and professional approach to human services. Serving Hawai'i since 1947, we offer help to people of all faiths and cultures, especially those with the greatest need.

We are currently seeking one Full-Time Youth Counselor to join our MAILILAND Transitional Housing Program and one Full-time Administrative Assistant to join our Housing Assistance Program.

Youth Counselor
The Youth Counselor performs specialized activities involving homeless children, teachers, administrators, etc. Activities include counseling; student appraisals; consultation with school personnel, parents and community agencies; coordination with other programs and resources in and outside Catholic Charities; and program evaluation and planning.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in education or counseling; two (2) years of counseling experience; sound knowledge of the principles, practice and techniques of testing and assessing the needs of individuals; and knowledge and understanding teaching and counseling delayed learners.

Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant assists housing programs with multiple reports, contracts, and administrative support. Assists with client referrals. Position demands a considerable degree of autonomy and responsibility in organizing and carrying through a work schedule. Good judgment and initiative are essential for performing assigned tasks. In addition, the multiple tasks for programs located at different sites may require that the position be flexible and versatile. Is responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing and ensuring all the general office functions are satisfactorily met, assists with intake or elderly clients, organizes central files, office equipment and supplies.

REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years college or two (2) years training in business subjects at a business school or community college, plus 3 years of relevant work experience, excellent computer skills, including spreadsheets and data analysis, ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks, detail-oriented, good communication skills and ability to work with diverse ethnic groups.

All positions require a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
