(CHC) CHC is one of the country’s largest providers of primary medical, dental and behavioral health services to the uninsured and underinsured. Community Health Center is seeking an experienced Grant Writer with a proven track record in developing successful proposals for state, federal, foundation, and research grants. Outstanding writing skills, technical expertise in extracting and presenting complex data in simple formats, and experience in internet-based literature reviews a must.

 

CHC is at the cutting edge of organized health service delivery.  It delivers high quality care to 70,000 patients across Connecticut from our primary care centers in twelve cities.  Our goal is to continually expand our reach, develop and expand our services, and increasingly, to contribute new knowledge to the field of primary health care for special populations.  Grant funding is critical to our success in this area of research, development, and innovation.

Some of the Grant Writer responsibilities include:

  •  Collaborating with clinical and professional teams to identify potential grant opportunities
  • Establishing the timeline and required elements of each proposal, ensuring that all deadlines are met, writing content, and assuming final full preparation and submission of the grant manuscript
  • Monitor key sources of grant funding opportunities and develop collaborative relationships with external sources
  • Prepare pre-award and post-award documents
  • Develop and regularly update CHC internal and external data sets relevant for grant applications

CHC was formed in 1972 by a group of volunteers who were passionate about helping low-income families and individuals. As result of that commitment, CHC now treats thousands of patients from over 100 communities in its 24 locations. We want you to become a part of the excitement and grow with us!

In addition to primary care services, CHC provides specialty services such as management for chronic diseases including diabetes and asthma, podiatry, care for people living with HIV/AIDS, obstetrical care, alternative therapies such as mindfulness-based meditation, mental health care, dental care, and free breast and cervical cancer screening, detection, and treatment services for uninsured women. CHC also offers services for people who are homeless or in danger of losing their housing and victims of domestic violence. For family well-being, CHC provides parenting education programs.

Job Requirements 

·        Qualifications:

  •  BA/BS Degree (Master's degree in appropriate area a plus)
  •  A Minimum of 5+ years' experience as a professional grant writer
  • ·Demonstrated success in researching, writing, and securing grants
  • Experience in developing proposals for funding at the state, foundation, and federal level
  •  Expert  technical skills in area of mapping, census data usage, and internet research
  •  Expert level skills in Microsoft Office and internet-related applications
  •  Superior written and verbal communication skills
  •  Exceptional presentation skills
  •  Must be dynamic, detail oriented, well organized and able to work independently
  •   Excellent time management, planning, organization and prioritization skills
  •  Effective team player
  •   Ability to develop and sustain relationships with funders and partner organizations
  •   Not-for-profit experience preferred
  •   Successful candidate will also have experience as primary developer of research, evaluation, and service delivery grant proposals
