Patent Agent is needed with a degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics for a law firm. The primary responsibilities of the position include conducting interviews with clients to obtain invention disclosures, developing strategies for protecting inventions, drafting specifications and claims for patent applications and writing scientific and technical documents in clear concise English. This position will also be responsible for analyzing Patent Office actions and preparing responses thereto, conducting examiner interviews, following the ethical requirement as set forth by the Firm's professional liability insurer and performing necessary legal and technical research using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems. The successful candidate should be able to effectively manage a docket with multiple clients and deadlines, conduct legal and technical research and analysis in support of various patent-related matters and work closely with attorneys, other agents and staff to research the invention and draft the specifications using technical expertise in the field. The successful candidate will possess a graduate degree in physics, materials science or chemical engineering, and have successfully completed the patent agent examination or be able to sit for the examination and be registered to practice before the USPTO.
