Mental Health Counselor - Nonprofit Mental Health Therapist/LCSW
Job Description
We are seeking a self-motivated and committed Mental Health Counselor to provide full-time counseling for adults, adolescents, children and families out of our Clinton office location. As a Mental Health Counselor with Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare, you will conduct individual and group counseling sessions as well as crisis intervention during the day.
Additional tasks of the Mental Health Counselor include:
- Assessing, diagnosing, treating and counseling patients and performing psychosocial evaluations
- Developing individualized treatment plans that define services and interventions
- Updating treatment plans according to documentation requirements.

Job Responsibilities
As a Mental Health Counselor with Pathways, you will document clinical service delivery within 48 hours of seeing patients. You will also keep records of patient contacts and complete all required OTR’s/PA’s to ensure that clinical services are billed in a timely manner.
Additional responsibilities of the Mental Health Counselor include:
- Maintaining the appropriate sized caseload to meet productivity expectations
- Attending outpatient staff meetings for agency communication, clinical consultation and training
- Coordinating the provision of clinical services for patients with other programs and/or medical services

Job Requirements
As a Mental Health Counselor with Pathways, you must possess excellent assessment skills. You must also be able to work as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
Additional requirements for the Mental Health Counselor include:
- Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Services or a related field
- Valid license as an LCSW or Licensed Psychologist in the state of Missouri
- Experience providing mental health counseling to adults, adolescents and children
- Strong computer abilities and proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
