Ruby on Rails Developer

Responsibilities: Our client is seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer in the Calabasas, California (CA) area.

Description:
The successful candidates will work on new application development for a Real Estate Workflow Application. Ruby on Rails development experience is preferred; but the client will also consider candidates with strong, diverse backgrounds with experience with Python / LAMP and/or Java.

Responsibilities:

• Create complex, high quality, enterprise-transforming business applications


• Use the latest tools and techniques (Ruby / Rails, RSpec / NUnit, Java, Python, C#, Agile Methodologies, and Web Services)


• Use BDD / TDD techniques during development


• Prepare software for deployment to production environments (Chef, GIT, etc.)


• Respond to and resolve questions and issues logged by users of a live system


• Manage small projects independently and work as a team member on larger projects


• Be part of diverse, high energy teams focused on full life-cycle development

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (include any required computer skills, regulatory knowledge, certifications, licenses, languages, etc.):

• At least 3 years worth of work or experience in projects that varies in size, technology, and domain


• Proficient-level of technical knowledge in one or more areas of technology such as Ruby / Rails, Java, LAMP, .NET, SOA, and Database (Open Source is preferred)


• Delivery experience on a Ruby / Rails development project


• Excellent communication and customer interfacing skills


• Strong analytical skills and the ability to conceptualize solutions


• Experience with Object-Oriented analysis and design pattern


• Knowledge of design patterns, refactoring, and unit testing


• Knowledge of Agile Methodologies such as Extreme Programming (XP) and Scrum is helpful


• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server)


• Experience with Linux and Open Source software


• Financial services experience, especially related to mortgages domain is desirable
