The Software Engineer II provides leadership and technical expertise in the development and support of business applications for School Specialty. Strong business flow undertanding and a strong technical background/experience are expected. In this role the Software Engineer II will also provide mentorship, guidance, and advice to other developers. Development work will include new functionality/enhancements and support of existing applications. The Senior Developer will work closely with BT management in prioritizing, estimating, designing, developing, testing, and delivering quality business applications
Lead application development process from technical design through deployment.
•Review technical designs and application code of other development team members.
•Leverage core system capabilities and innovative ideas to continually improve current practices.
•Provide analysis and advice to BT and business leadership.
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
Continued education including technology certifications in related fields preferred.
REQUIRED:
Experience developing applications in J2EE architecture and object-oriented technologies.
Expertise in SQL, Java/JSP, JSF, XML, and CSS.
Experience working with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Business Process Orchestration.
Strong background developing on UNIX/Linux platform.
Experience working with structured systems development methodologies.
Ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies through both formal and on-the-job self training.
Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to direct many activities at once: keeping 3-5 projects moving forward, proactively anticipating and addressing issues, and implementing solutions.
PREFERRED:
5+ years building, enhancing, and supporting applications.
Experience working with Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies, Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF), Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM), and Oracle WebCenter.
Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite application and associated Oracle technologies such as PL/SQL, Oracle Application Framework (OAF), and Oracle Workflow.
Experience developing and maintaining applications subject to compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements.
Experience in a distribution-focused business.
