The Category Management Analyst position will work cross functionally with our Category Manager, marketing, and sales teams by using customer POS and syndicated data to develop strategies on merchandising, assortment, pricing, and shelving on all Morton Salt product categories. The position will work with the Category Management Manager to develop category, shopper, and channel insights to drive sales in the categories Morton Salt sells in. The role will collaborate with internal teams by developing high quality fact based selling presentations that will lead to distribution gains, assortment optimization, and category profitability. The position will be responsible for establishing relationships with key customer and broker Category Management Department/Analyst positions.
Essential Duties
1.Help drive issues-oriented category and shopper insights work, translating broad shopper insights and category knowledge to address retailer opportunities.
2.Identify opportunities, insights, and develop fact based presentations that translate into actionable recommendations that will maximize overall category profitability.
3.Participate and support key customer business, new item, shopper insights and assortment optimization, and category reviews.
4.Support account sales team in identifying customer growth opportunities and category management best practice recommendations.
5.Understanding and use of ACNielsen and IRI syndicated data, Spectra data, key customer proprietary POS databases, and other critical systems utilized to generate information for category reviews.
6.Provide and maintain detailed reporting on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to support key category management and customer initiatives.
7.Create and distribute weekly and monthly scorecards (e.g. space to share, new item ranking and opportunity, display, top line, etc.).
8.Participate in local category management presentations and develop relationships with key customer, broker, and syndicated data partners.
9.Provide optimal assortment and shelf strategy recommendations for the customer.
10.Develop a business planning template that will be used internally and externally with customer and broker partners.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in business required. MBA desired.
Experience: 2-5 years of sales experience, minimum 1-2 years of category management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•History of high performance rankings in current and recent positions.
•Outstanding organization, communication, and presentation development skills.
•Strong analytical experience with concentration in category management.
•Proven experience with syndicated data and Nielsen Spectra.
•Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
•Consumer Products experience preferred.
•Previous experience working in a team environment.
Travel
Requires 10%-30% travel.
