Job Description

Job Summary: This position shows sound knowledge and proficiency in the care of patients undergoing procedures in Interventional Radiology. The IR RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient safety and care before, during and after a procedure. Responsible for confirming correct patient/correct exam/correct order/correct patient demographics and verifying lab values prior to exam. Responsible for following Sedation Analgesia Policy as it pertains to Interventional Radiology. Observes radiation safety guidelines. Adapts to schedule changes including routine departmental coverage, call shifts and call back for procedures/holidays. Assists with equipment Q.C./maintenance and the collection and processing of information used for the Quality Improvement Process. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times. Responsible for educating/assisting new employees and students. Maintains individual credentialing and education requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Participation in the Quality Improvement process is expected.

 

Essential Functions: Manages stress appropriately and can make decisions under pressure, manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately, handle multiple priorities and able to work alone. Medium work with periods of standing, lifting, stooping, bending, pulling with force, reaching above head and shoulders, twisting at waist. Must be able to distinguish colors, hear alarms/telephone/tape recorder in normal speaking voice. Good manual dexterity and clarity of vision. Occasionally may push/pull/lift or carry up to 50 lbs. Occasionally may lift 50 lbs from floor and waist level up. Attendance is essential to this role.

Job Requirements

Licensure: Must have RN License in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Experience: 2-3 years Critical Care experience is required

Certifications: ACLS, BLS and PALS

Skills: Organizational, critical thinking and communication skills in a detail-oriented, multi-tasks, customer- focused organization. Computer, mathematical, analytical, reading and comprehension skills a must. Must follow verbal instruction
