Position Description:
A Sonographer is a diagnostic ultrasound professional who is qualified by professional credentialing, academic, and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice of the diagnostic medical sonographer includes those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience. This person must demonstrate competency and has completed the appropriate ARDMS certification(s) which is the standard of practice in ultrasound.
*Clinic hours are 4-10 hour days or 5-8 hour days, Monday - Friday
*The MFM sonographers will not take call
*No weekends or holidays
*The MFM sonographer sees approxoimately 8-10 patients per day
*Equipment used - Voluson E8 and use Viewpoint
*Types of studie - NB, NT, FE, Amnicentesis, PUBS, D&E, D&C, etc
*Radiologist on site

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Skills:
This employee is responsible for the independent operation of diagnostic medical equipment to expose various OB/GYN conditions, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Sonography or ultrasonography is the use of sound waves to generate an image for assessment and diagnosis. This position will specialize in perinatal sonography. Ultrasound examinations include a variety of conditions ranging from routine OB/GYN to high risk obstetrical scans to include but not limited to, nuchal translucency, fetal anatomy survey, Doppler studies, biophysical profile, fetal echocardiograms and endovaginal scans. Experience also includes ability to perform guidance for amniocentesis, chronic villus sampling, and other procedures commonly performed in a MFM program. This person must be able to work independently and as a part of a team as well have thorough knowledge of high risk conditions. The sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the sonographic program, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA).Education:Required: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Sonography from an accredited school.Experience:Required: Minimum one or more years of MFM experience and/or training with graduate sonographer.

Preferred: Ideal candidate would have Maternal Fetal Medicine office experience.Credentials:Required: Current Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) certification for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Current certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Fetal Nuchal Translucency or Nasal Bone Certification through the Fetal Medicine Foundation within one year of hire. Current certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in OB within one year of hire.
