Essential Responsibilities:
• Provides services in meeting patients’ needs in an effective manner.
• Ensures appropriate frequency of visits with patients as required by their level of care and clinical presentation.
• Attends daily team meeting to ensure contact with primary therapist and UR Coordinator.
• Files all commitment petitions in a timely fashion with all required affidavits.
• Provides second opinions for appropriate clinical situations.
• Ensures quality of medical services.
• Ensures timeliness of medical records as regards meeting current medical record standards for discharge summaries and signatures.
• Attends Medical Staff meetings.
• Develops and enhances own managerial experience.
• Collaborates with managers of other departments to promote and support interdisciplinary culture.
• Supports hospital-wide philosophy emphasizing focus on customers and concepts of quality improvement.
• Ensures accessibility and availability of medical services.
• Supervision of other department psychiatrists.
• Ensures all department psychiatrists are providing services in accord with clinic wide and departmental policies, procedures and expectations.
• Assists in planning new programs and monitoring existing services with special emphasis on medical and/or psychiatric aspects.
• Supervises all members of the Medical Staff to ensure compliance with By-Laws and quality of care.
• Participates in marketing efforts at or away from the hospital as necessary
• Participates in treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring.
• Provides consultation and resolution to emergency situations
• Monitors medication management including prescribing.
• Participates in employee staff development by providing relevant in-services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients/families
• Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations or with unpredictable or violent clients
• Ability to make accurate assessments and provide appropriate treatment
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the agency, community and referral sources.
• Complies fully with the Utilization Review guidelines as mandated by DPH
• Sets up schedule with the Clinics to visit on a consistent and timely basis
