The Network Surveillance Associate Network Analyst function includes monitoring all network alarms, answer incoming telephone calls promptly, and investigating alarms down to root cause, entering trouble tickets in Remedy for tracking purposes and dispatch appropriate personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain Surveillance of the Windstream Network at all times.
Track all alarm events in assigned area and maintain groups SLA’s for monitoring purposes.
Report, document and track all alarm events while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Answer phones promptly from internal workgroups.
Maintain integrity of NetCool by referring erroneous alarms to responsible parties.
Have the ability to work non-traditional work schedules covering 7 x 24 x 365 operations.
Communicate outages inside the company in a timely and effective manner.
Requires moderate to high level of supervision, and is delegated moderately complex tasks.
Create trouble tickets for all network troubles.
Must have the ability to multi-task and function during periods of large workloads.
Must have the ability to follow through with complex tasks to ensure the appropriate resolution.
Must have the ability to prioritize tasks based off information presented to technician (Severity of the event, total impact, and possible outcomes).
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills:
1 + year experience with one or more of the following class 5 switches:
Lucent 5ESS, Nortel DMS10, Nortel DMS100, Siemens DCO, GTD5
1+ year experience with one or more of the following Optical carrier equipment:
Cisco ONS 15454, Fujitsu, Nortel OME, Preside, Lucent DMX, Optellian
1+ year experience with one or more of the following routers:
Cisco, Juniper, Redback
Job Requirements
Associate Degree in a technical discipline and 0-2 years technical/telephony experience; or 4+ years of directly related telephony experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related telephony experience.
