Network Engineer II Contractor

Job Description

The Network Engineer II Contractor is part of the Corporate Operations team, located in Norcross, Georgia. This position provides support to the North American operations and partners with the International Operations team.



Major Responsibilities/Activities

 
•Capable of participating in various fast-paced complex projects and various immediate needs or requests
•Participates in business needs analysis; designs, installs, and supports network solutions which include, but not limited to, firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers, and various kinds of security protection and filtering oriented appliances and/or software component on one or multiple platforms in a Web architecturally oriented LAN/WAN/MAN.
•Works with other System and Network Engineers in implementation projects and is the last level of user support for troubleshooting network usage and equipment issues.
•Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of company network hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
•Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
•Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
•Proven experience and success with complex and constantly evolving LAN, WAN, design and implementation.
•Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
•Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
•Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
•Must excel at working under pressure and responding constructively to bring about solutions that exceed expectations
•Proactive in solving customer issues
•Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team
•Experience leading projects and working with vendors
•Experience sharing knowledge with peers at all levels

Job Requirements

•Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
•Minimum 7-10 years large environment dedicated network experience
•Minimum CCNA required or CCDA certification desired
•Must collaborate well with remote teams in other time zones such as Eastern and GMT
•Participate in global IT initiatives
•Must be a self starter and work with minimal guidance
•Capable of supporting a global network infrastructure
•Managed medium-size networks with over 100 nodes (routers, switches, firewalls, WAN optimization etc.)
•Utilize scripting to deploy configurations or troubleshoot network infrastructure
•Versed in Wireshark, HTTP Watch, TCPDump and any other protocol analyzers
•Use of Cisco Wireless LAN Controller to manage/troubleshoot wireless
connectivity
•Able to document projects in Visio format for record keeping.
• A firm understanding of advanced networking concepts (Rate Limiting, IPv4/IPv6
Addressing, OSI, Switching, Routing, STP, BPDU, DHCP, DNS, SMTP and Protocol
Analysis)
•Able to conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards
◦Enterprise experience to include the following:
◦All Standard technologies (Wireless, Wired)
◦Route redistribution using dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, etc...)
◦Edge routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, etc.)
◦Quality of Service (QoS), Voice Over IP (VoIP), Jitter
◦DMVPN, MPLS, Site-to-Site VPN, Remote VPN solutions
◦Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning (Solarwinds, NetQoS, etc..)
◦Reporting
◦WAN/LAN/MAN technology
◦Authentication mechanisms (Radius, ACS, TACACS, AAA)
•Firm understanding of Microsoft based networks and Microsoft operating systems
•Ability to Travel throughout North America, 10 - 25%
•Ability to participate in a 24/7 On call rotation


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Exhibit the to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals
•Exhibit passion for the networking field and to learn
•Ability to perform packet analysis and root cause analysis
•Background in network security and conceprts (OS hardening, Security Audits, Penetration Testing, etc.)
•Linux systems configuration, administration and security
•Excellent, proven written and verbal, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
•Self-confident, motivated, and disciplined
•ITIL Certification(s) are a plus
