Nurse Manager - Long-term Care

Job Description

We are searching for an experienced, Full-time Long-term Care Nurse Manager for Legacy at Preston Hollow to join our dynamic team!

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist the Director of Resident Services in maintaining the standards of resident care, advising the medical staff, department heads, and administrator in matters related to nursing services. Assist the Director of Resident Services in establishing policies, interpreting those policies according to the standards of nursing practice, and with general staff development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The following duties are normal for this position.  This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assist the Director of Resident Services in administration of policies and procedures of the nursing department.
  • Assist the Director of Resident Services in planning, organizing, and supervising the nursing department around the clock to insure competent nursing care for the residents.
  • Participates in General Orientation of all nursing staff assigned to the 4th floor.
  • Assist or maintain an active staff development program with nurse management team.
  • Encourages increased competency and skill in all levels of the Nursing Department staff.
  • Advises the Director of Resident Services of any problems related to resident care.
  • Reviews the resident medical record for accuracy and completeness within 72 hours of admission and then at least quarterly.
  • Monitors the resident medical and nursing history for completeness and inclusion in the medical record.
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement Process.
  • Assist the Director of Resident Services to maintain the standards of care.
  • Provides a high level of quality care and service to all residents and their families in a professional, positive manner.
  • Must attend all required trainings and in-services.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide leadership and promote team spirit with staff, interdisciplinary team, and department heads.
  • Supervise and counsel personnel to fulfill the objectives of the Nursing Department.
  • Create and maintain a motivating environment that encourages employee involvement, creativity and problem solving.

Job Requirements

 

Educational Requirements and Experience:

  • Licensed Nurse in the state of Texas
  • Knowledge of solid nursing theories and standards of practice
  • Minimum of 4 years of  long-term care supervisory experience
