PRODUCT MANAGER

Job Description

Lead the development and implementation of core product strategies and tactics in order to sustain product market leadership.  Develop, communicate and manage the annual plan on assigned product lines and new product development activities working with sales, field services and operations.  Outline annual strategic and tactical initiatives. 

 

 Develop NPD planning framework based on product road maps and insure that strategies and plans reflect key opportunities and issues of the business.

 

Champion the new product development process for assigned product lines and adjacent opportunities to achieve growth of sales, profit and market share. 

 

 

Identify new innovative product and market opportunities through the understanding of the overall market, trends, competition and end-users.  Establish market potential, develop commercial specifications and related NPD materials. 

 

 

 

Manage the NPD process from idea generation to product commercialization working with internal departments and external vendors.  Maintain an end-user and application-driven NPD process with focus on user benefits and product advantages to successfully meet market needs and competition. 

 

Champion the implementation of core product line strategies and plans to sustain market leadership.  Manage product line life cycles and pricing to maintain profitability. 

 

Manage product line channel performance working with sales, field services, operations and sister divisions.  Establish and continuously maintain product road maps. 

 

Lead all related market research functions on an ongoing basis with focus on end-users needs and channel opportunities

 

 Uncover emerging product/market adjacencies and market trends.  Develop competitive product offering matrix.  Utilize market research data to drive strategic planning, product line maintenance and NPD functions.

 

Working with peers, manage the development and implementation of product line related marketing communications, packaging and merchandising programs to increase product/brand awareness, protect existing channel placement and generate sales growth. 

 

Utilize in-store marketing communications to improve product line shopability and core set serviceability.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a comparable discipline; an MBA is a plus
  • At least 5 years of progressive marketing experience, including a minimum of two years in a brand or product management role
  • Financial acumen to analyze financial results and new market opportunities
  • New product development expertise, including product introduction; full product lifecycle management preferred
  • Experience in consumer packaging, pricing, and promotion is preferred
  • Knowledge of the retail channel preferred.
  • Strong team/project management, communications, and presentation skills
