Quality Assurance Manager - Retail Solutions Gate Gourmet, a gategroup company, is the world’s largest independent provider of catering and provisioning services for airlines and railroads.  We serve more than 200 million meals a year to our 250-plus customers at more than 100 airport locations around the globe.    We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our Retail Solutions team based in at our regional office in Arlington Heights, Illinois.  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Retail Solutions, Supply Chain & Operations the Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for quality element control related to operation, policy and procedure auditing, leading quality improvement projects in catering units, CPU’s and other supplier facilities, and driving defect prevention and detections.    Essential Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Leads and monitors food safety improvement projects for the Retail Solutions team.
  • Audits Last Mile Provider, CPU’s, and Supplier food safety programs for effectiveness by verifying HACCP, sanitation regulatory compliance in business unit
  • Monitors corrective action systems
  • Educates (trains) staff and managers, as needed, in food safety related issues
  • Plays a key role in developing a comprehensive food safety program
  • Ensures HACCP program compliance, maintains current CCPs and SOPs and develops new ones as appropriate (e.g.for double-provisioned product)
  • Implements and controls the TQM program
  • Champions the total food safety improvement efforts and initiates problem solving efforts and assures implementation
  • Coordinates actions to prevent the occurrences of nonconformities
  • Maintains customer compliance resolution includes leading investigation of food safety complaints
  • Insures preventative and corrective actions are implemented
  • Supports customer audits, government audits to meet compliance
  • Verifies and insures company policies and procedures are followed
  • Controls compliance to Gate Gourmet micro-sampling program Qualifications Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or equivalent work experience
    • Advanced Degree preferred
    Work Experience
    • Minimum 4 years experience in a Quality function in the food production or airline catering industry required.
    Job Skills

    • Advanced knowledge in food/catering processes, manufacturing methods, inspection, and quality auditing
    • Knowledge of TQM and Continuous Improvement methodologies
    • Basic Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement knowledge a plus
    • Detail oriented a plus
    • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task
    • Strong interpersonal skills interact well with multiple departments as required
    • Able to work with little supervision
    • Change Agent
    • Multi-lingual a plus
    Communication Skills
    • Excellent reading, written, and oral communication skills
    • Able to communicate key concepts and ideas to a diverse audience
    Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations
    • HACCP or ServSafe Certified
    Environmental Requirements
    • Travel around the Chicago Airport area (Office, Kitchen, Customer visits, O'Hare)
    • Some domestic travel may be required
