Responsibilities: - Collaborates to develop and administer strategies to ensure Dangerous Goods are transported safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and standards, by supporting the design, development and implementation of Dangerous Goods related policies, business processes and procedures across the enterprise.
- Provides expertise to internal client organizations in coordination with divisional DG representatives, to ensure Dangerous Goods regulations and standards are accurately interpreted and applied to their policies, in support of critical operational and business imperatives.
- Provides expertise to support United's Internal Evaluation Program and assists in administration of the Dangerous Goods Management Program.
- Monitors and analyzes performance indicator data to identify quality improvement opportunities and advocates corrective action with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with DG support staff and subject matter experts within Airport Operations and Cargo, Flight Operations, Dispatch, Onboard Services and United Services Divisions, and affiliated support organizations to improve Dangerous Goods safety and compliance performance.
- Works with operating divisions and their training organizations to identify employee training needs pertaining to Dangerous Goods, to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training programs and maintain FAA approval under Operations Specification A055.
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance, Law Division and internal/external stakeholders, as appropriate, to manage regulatory enforcement actions involving Dangerous Goods.
- Monitors proposed and newly implemented regulations and legislation, to analyze the potential impact on United's business processes, advise senior leadership and advocate appropriate action.
- Represents United's interests before US and international regulatory authorities, and industry associations such as IATA-Dangerous Goods Board, COSTHA (Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles) and ATA.
- Position requires up to 25% domestic and international travel.

Education: - Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience: - Three years experience with a major US carrier.
- Experience with Dangerous Goods transport regulations, operations and procedures.
- Experience in a Safety, Quality or Compliance discipline.
- Substantial experience related to the transportation of Hazardous Material may be substituted for airline experience
Skills: - Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and communications skills.
