Job Description
Responsible for overseeing the development, communication, and adherence to polices and procedures necessary to govern quality assurance and food safety across all facets of the business; translating government regulations in all areas of consumer product compliance; overseeing import regulatory requirements; testing all Private Brand items annually.
 
Job Responsibilities:
1. Leads a high caliber and specialized group of individuals responsible for the overall quality and performance of all Private Brand items; Coaches, mentors, develops a highly motivated and capable staff through: effective hiring, establishing training programs, communicating goals and objectives, support of company policies and programs, formal and informal performance feedback, and recognition of accomplishments.
2. Directs the development, communication and adherence to policies and procedures necessary to govern quality assurance and food safety across all facets of the business; ensures an understanding and translation of all government regulations on all areas of consumer product compliance.
3. Creates and manages budgets, forecasts future spending and labor needs.
4. Oversees the management and assessment of third party relationships and ensures fair and competitive costs and charges.
5. Leads the development of specification creation, including system capabilities, education and vendor compliance, attending to the importance of the ownership of traceability of products and raw ingredients to the product origin.
6. Directs food safety and regulatory compliance for all food items in stores, including both Private Brand and branded.  Partners with both third parties and operations to ensure stores are educated and comply with all food safety regulatory requirements.
7. Oversees import regulatory requirements required to enable the purchase and processing of purchased items in a timely manner, attending to the importance of resourcing the area appropriately to account for seasonable swings in workload.
8. Directs the management of all domestic testing of all Private Brand items, annually; maintaining alliance with third party auditing firms to ensure comprehensive testing.
9. Oversees the management of the Consumer Response center for Private Brand, including the tracking and communication of issues and opportunities.

Job Requirements
BS/BA degree required, preferably in an R&D, Food Safety, Quality, or Technical field.  10+ years experience of consumer packaged goods background; research and development experience; knowledge of government regulations related to food, consumer products, and importation of products. Ability of think strategically, proven negotiation skills; high level of organization skills; strong leadership skills; proven developer, coach and mentor in leading people.  Proven ability to influence; ability to plan long term; ability to handle complexity; proven ability to work in a matrix organization. Strong oral, written and presentation skills required.
