Description

SUMMARY:

This position analyzes, programs, consults and maintains specific information system packaged applications configurations and pharmacy technology, leading to the improvement of the pharmacy’s operational and financial performance. Reviews and analyzes software supplied by the manufacturer and determines optimum configuration required for implementation. Analyzes changes and enhancements to software issued by the manufacturer and determines impact on existing production systems. Maintain system security and operating procedures and systems recovery. Maintains and controls pharmacy database(s). Establishes and enforces standards for use of the database(s) and controls to ensure database integrity. Develops specifications for database maintenance. Monitors pharmacy technology and systems, making adjustments when needed for improvements. Develops and administers a system of methods and performance standards and procedures. Evaluates proposed new hardware, software, and applications to determine impacts on existing standards and requirements for new standards.

The individual has a proven skill in a specific area of the pharmacy or demonstrated expertise in a particular aspect of packaged application implementations. This position assists in the development, coordination and delivery of technology to customers (users) and utilizes continuous improvement and change management tools/ concepts for the purpose of maximizing the benefits of the packaged application(s). Provides specialized training and leadership to less experienced personnel.

 

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or electronics, information management, or equivalent job experience required.
2. Training and experience in file structures and design, database design, data communications design concepts, communications access methods, operating or applications systems programming, and current hardware systems architecture required.
3. Must be skilled in problem analysis; pays great attention to detail.
4. Must be able to work in a team environment or independently.
5. Must be able to organize and delegate tasks, coordinate projects and be willing to advise others. 6. Project leader training and experience helpful.
7. 2-4 years of experience in hospital information systems. Experience with Pharmacy systems is a plus.
8. High proficiency in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Visio (or other workflow documentation tool) is required.
9. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills
10. Excellent organization and time management skills are necessary. Proven ability to manage multiple requests, tasks, and requirements.
11. Capable of working well in a diverse team environment and successfully interacting with others in the organization, including remote teams.
