Assistant Director of Nursing

Lake County, Illinois is a financially stable, professionally managed, AAA rated County located in northeastern Illinois, with Lake Michigan to the east, Wisconsin to the north and the City of Chicago to the south. We are currently seeking candidates for the following position:

Assistant Director of Nursing

Winchester House, Libertyville, IL

Under general direction of the Director or Nurses, performs work of considerable difficulty in supervising and providing professional and technical guidance to subordinate nursing staff.  Performs highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, its application to a variety of situations as well as exercise of independent judgment.  Participates in all management functions of the nursing department (planning, organizing, leading and controlling).

The Assistant Director of Nursing prepares professional and nonprofessional staff schedules for all shifts of nursing personnel.  Assists in establishing policies and procedures related to benefit hours.  Enforces Illinois Department of Public Health Regulations.  Promotes rehabilitation nursing on the units.  Assists the Director of Nurses in evaluation of nursing staff.  Supervises and monitors work performance in terms of resident care, staff regulations and efficiency of service. Assumes duties of the Director of Nurses during absence

• Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program in nursing or related health field from a recognized college or university.

• Possession of a current Illinois license as a Registered Nurse. 

• Experience in long-term care facility acting in the capacity of supervisor, preferred.

• Specialty certification in a nursing field, preferred.

• Considerable knowledge of modern nursing techniques, routines and methods as applied to skilled care. 

• Considerable knowledge of state and federal resident care regulations. Knowledge of the principle and practices of modern health care administration.
