Lewis University's College of Education seeks applicants for Assistant Professor to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Reading and Literacy. The Reading and Literacy department values leadership and scholarship in the profession. Position responsibilities also include advising students, supervising cinical/practicum students, and teaching at cohort sites.
This is a full-time, Assistant Professor, non-tenure track position beginning in August, 2010. The Reading and Literacy department values leadership and scholarship in the profession. Position responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Reading and Literacy, advising students, supervising clinical/practicum students, and teaching at cohort sites.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Reading and Literacy.
-Advising students, supervising clinical/practicum students, and teaching at cohort sites.
Earned doctorate preferred/ABD considered. Reading and Literacy graduate coursework required, current and historical knowledge of trends and issues in literacy education and IRA standards a must. Reading Specialist certification and experience required. Successful teaching experience in K-12 schools is required, and in college/university settings preferred. Familiarity with NCATE accreditation is desirable. Expertise in content area reading, multicultural education, ELL endorsement, or technology is desirable, though applicants with expertise in other areas are welcome.
