Description
BigMachines is a provider of SaaS applications globally. Our customers’ servers are hosted by Leading Hosting Service Providers. We have internal equipment as well for Development, QA. The IT dept also services the internal office computing and equipment needs of our employees for North America and Europe.
This position reports to the SVP of Customer and Professional Services. Responsibilities include:
1) Plan, continuously improve and maintain the company’s office IT WAN/LAN/wireless infrastructure (hardware, network, security, hardware, email, office equipment including telephony)
2) Ensure the above platform is reliable, secure and cost-effective
3) Manage Hosting Service Providers relationships, service performance, and contracting process
4) Oversee a small staff of 3-4 in Systems Admin responsibilities of all servers (troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, disaster recovery, PC & PDA support, laptops)
5) Work with project teams in Dev, Professional Services and Customer Services to improve our company’s product, implement Internal Systems, and improve Helpdesk services
6) Responds to escalated help desk issues with external clients
7) Oversees the administration of our IT Policies and Compliance certifications (eg SAS70)
8) Interacts with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner
Requirements
1) Experience in providing IT leadership, and managing a small staff of IT professionals which includes remote members (ideally 3-6 years)
2) Strong knowledge of IT technologies in hardware, networking, security, OS, databases - Linux, Microsoft, Oracle platforms, including SaaS technologies and services such as Cloud Computing
3) Strong verbal and written communication skills
4) Strong teamwork, flexibility and willingness to be hands-on, and work overtime when needed to support our 24x7x365 Criticalcare Response
5) Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively across functional organizations, and upper management
6) Strong conceptual ability, organization and planning skills, customer and process-orientation, and ability to adjust priorities to meet changing demands
7) Strong user of MS Office applications
