Job Description 

University of Illinois at Chicago College of Education Clinical Position Announcement Curriculum & Instruction (Secondary Education) The College of Education is committed to preparing the next generation of educators and educational leaders/researchers to address issues in urban education. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to preparing teachers to teach effectively in urban schools, particularly those serving African American and Latino communities. We seek to hire a Clinical Assistant Professor in Curriculum & Instruction with a specialization in middle school and secondary education, starting the 2010-2011 academic year. We are seeking well-qualified applicants with commitment, experience and scholarly background in the preparation of middle and high school pre-service teachers. A PhD and a strong background in curriculum, instruction and assessment for students in grades 6-12 are required. The successful candidate should have three years of teaching experience in grades 6-12 in culturally diverse, urban settings, and experience teaching courses in curriculum and instruction that focus on issues related to the education of pre-service teachers and diverse, urban school learners. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: (1) teaching undergraduate and master’s level courses in secondary education; (2) supervising pre-service fieldwork and collaborating with local schools in urban settings; (3) advising master’s level and undergraduate students; and (4) participating in ongoing programmatic development.
