The Bariatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the outpatient weight loss management program. The Bariatric Nurse Practitioner will help patients to optimize their attainment of optimal weight loss. He/she will see patients in the weight loss management side of the clinic, as well as patients on the surgical intervention side of the bariatric clinic. These patients may be in the pre-operative phase or trying to lose weight through conventional diet, exercise, and behavioral modification methods without the intention of going through surgical intervention. The Bariatric Nurse Practitioner will perform initial assessments for all patients coming into the bariatric program and dictate H&P’s for those patients. The Bariatric Nurse Practitioner will eventually help the bariatric surgeons in performing Lap-Band adjustments, and play a more integral role in the surgical side of the clinic.
Job Specifications:
1. Education: Masters prepared in advanced practice nursing with the Family Nurse Practitioner component from an accredited school of Nursing.
2. Licensure/Certification: Certification in advanced practice nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. BLS certification required. Membership in the American Society of Bariatric Surgery required with 6 months of hire.
3. Experience: Knowledge of weight loss management preferred. Behavioral modification experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of gastric bypass and Lap-Band surgery preferred.
4. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, leadership skills, problem solving and critical thinking capabilities.
5. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Previous experience with data management preferred.
This position is PRN 1 day per month in the Casper clinic.
