  • REQUIREMENTS:

    Applicants for this position must possess a current Michigan Nursing License, a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, at least 3 years of managerial experience with demonstrated leadership results, at least 3 years of Endoscopy clinical experience. Excellent interpersonal skills required to effectively and appropriately communicate with Associates, physicians, families, patients and visitors, and leadership/team building skills. This position requires some Saturday work.

    Working conditions include potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious diseases, extensive walking, standing, lifting, pulling, and pushing associated with patient care, potential for exposure to chemical agents, exposure to latex or latex environment 100%. Unpredictable mealtimes; breaks are scheduled around patient and departmental needs.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    A. Ensures compliance with Hospital, State, Federal and other accrediting body regulations in reference to patient care activities and physical environment.

    B. Assists in communicating shared vision, mission and values within department, which motivates others to achieve strategic goals.

    C. Creates a learning environment that is open respectful and promotes the sharing of expertise to promote the benefits of health outcomes.

    D. Establishes strategic goals within the department consistent with the direction of the Sparrow Team.

    E. Empowers Associates by delegating clear responsibility, accountability, and authority to meet mutually agreed-upon expectations.

    F. Develop, implement, monitor and be accountable for the budget for defined areas of responsibility.

    G. Participates in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.

    H. Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling associates and appropriate utilization of personnel.

    I. Ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continued professional development of associates.

    J. Ensures shared accountability for professional practice.

    K. Monitors Associate performance, providing coaching, recognition, counseling and avenues for improvement as needed.

    L. Advocate for a work environment that minimizes work related illness and injury.

    M. Assists with the assessment of the impact of, and plan strategies to address, such issues as:

    1. Ethnic, cultural and diversity changes in the population.

    2. Political and social influences.

    3. Financial and economic issues

    4. The aging of society and demographic trends.

    5. Ethical issues related to health

    N. Ensures evidence-based practice by participating in and involving the nursing staff in evaluative research activities.

    O. Promotes positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors and associates: follows up on all concerns and provides feedback. Monitors level of patient, associate and physician satisfaction.

    P. Utilizes objective measurement tools to evaluate quality performance and intervenes appropriately.

    Q. Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System’s Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.

    R. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, and organizational confidentiality procedures and protocols defined under the HIPAA Privacy Policies.

    S. Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information.

    T. Maintains and protects patients’ rights under the HIPAA Privacy standards.

    U. Other duties as assigned.
