Network Support Engineer

Job Description

Brooksource in San Jose, CA is seeking a strongly motivated candidate for a Network Support Engineer for a Fortune 100 Client in the Healthcare Industry. The Network Support Engineer will serve as the escalation point of contact for customer calls relating to all new and existing products. It will include both coordinating call notification and reporting in addition to providing detailed problem documentation. This candidate will be responsible for ensuring customers receive prompt, accurate and courteous product support and service. Your experience with Unix will be required for the deployment of the clients product as well as the post deployment support of their product. As a Network Support Engineer you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • · Provide front line Tier 1 technical support throughout the software product life cycle.
    • · Hands-on Unix Skills: Experience managing a Unix OS and knows most of the concepts and commands
  • · Develop technical notes and hands-on lab exercises.
  • · Configure, test and ship equipment to field personnel and customers.
  • · Provide phone support for newly introduced products and for more mature products.
  • · Reproduce customer environments in a lab scenario to resolve issues.
  • · Accurately document customer calls and product problems found in the field (e.g. Bugzilla, email, etc.).
  • · Communicate with customers in a timely and professional manner.
 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Preferred Skill Sets:

Experience with networking technologies, such as:

  • · Unix OS
  • · DNS
  • · TCP/IP
  • · LAN and WAN protocols
  • · Routers, security (Firewall, VPN)
  • · Experience with Linux essential, Windows, VMWare.
  • · Experience with Databases essential– SQL
  • · Excellent customer relations and communications skills.
  • · Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • · Ability to work effectively within a team, or independently.
 

Business Objective:

  • · This position is responsible for the planning and deployment of the Gateway portion of the client’s Healthlogix product within the Healthcare system. Healthcare systems typically have their own large data centers and our client’s product will handle millions of messages monthly for thousands of patients and providers. The outcome of each professional service engagement is to have the client’s product installed in their data center that meets the healthcare system’s requirements for performance, functionality, and security. An unsuccessful outcome of this set of services would entail loss of the contract to our client.
