Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center began operations, independent of the Harris County Medical Society on Jan. 1, 1975. Today, recognized worldwide for its quality assurance programming, state-of-the-art technologies and management expertise, The Blood Center has grown to more than 700 employees and serves more than 170 hospitals and health care institutions in the 25-county Texas Gulf Coast, Brazos Valley and East Texas regions.
To meet the needs of the area community, The Blood Center must collect 308,500 units in 2008, and more than 900 donations every day. That is why The Blood Center encourages individuals to Commit for Life, which is a partnership between the community and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center that is focused on saving lives, today... and in the future. It takes three easy steps:
- Donate once per quarter;
- Allow The Blood Center to contact you; and
- Spread the word, encouraging others to Commit for Life.
To make this possible, The Blood Center offers more than 20 conveniently located donation locations, either a mobile site or a Neighborhood Donor Center, every day for individuals to Commit for Life and help save lives.
