Lea Regional Medical Center is located in the southeastern corner of New Mexico, just three miles from the Texas Panhandle. This hospital has been serving southeastern New Mexico and western Texas for more than 30 years. In 1974, the medical center was opened by Humana under the name Llano Estacado Medical Center. Purchased by HCA in 1979, the facility was renamed Lea Regional Medical Center. From 1980-84, the hospital opened four medical office buildings and a 70-bed pavilion. In 1999, Lea Regional became affiliated with Triad Hospitals, Inc. Since then, Lea Regional has opened a state-of-the-art Cardiac Cath Lab and Gastroenterology Lab and has remodeled and expanded the Emergency Room and the Outpatient Surgery Area. Lea Regional has recruited 25 new physicians to the community since 2001 and is currently renovating the Women's Services Unit.
