Impressive Growth Fuels Expansion of Niche Staffing Firm
CHICAGO – A young and dynamic staffing service is growing in size and reputation,
unencumbered by an uncertain economy or entrenched competitors. Specializing in the
placement of accounting and finance professionals, Garelli Wong & Associates, Inc., a
search firm, and its division Jackson Wabash & Associates, a temporary and contract
staffing company, report substantial growth since their 2001 inception and ongoing plans
Michael S. Garelli and James F. Wong launched their businesses in February, 2001,
armed with notable accounting, finance and recruiting experience and a mission to
become Chicago’s best boutique staffing service. Recently, the company moved to a new
3,500 square foot office at 200 South Michigan Avenue. They now employ a staff of 14,
representing more than 100 years of accounting, finance and recruiting experience
combined. The number of Chicago-area client companies and candidates has grown from
hundreds to thousands, respectively.
“Revenue and net income nearly quadrupled between year-ends one and two. And we
expect to end year three with revenue growth of 100% or more,” co-president Garelli
“ We’ve benefited from a sound strategy and factors favorable to our business despite a
sluggish economy,” explains co-president Wong. “Job one for us is to sustain ongoing
relationships with hiring managers and candidates. Our first clients are among our current
clients. This strategy rewards us daily with new candidate referrals and placement
opportunities. Concurrently, demand for staffing services is increasing. The talent pool is
dwindling with the year-after-year decline in accounting graduates and CPA candidates.

competitors saw little or no growth during the last 24 months. Some have specialized in
industry sectors that have not fared well. Some are Goliath publicly traded firms. We’re

short and long-term talent requirements.”
Plans for staff and facility expansion
Looking forward, the Garelli Wong companies plan to add staff and open a suburban
location. Company founders are now searching for four to six recruiters and staffing
consultants to join the firm by year-end 2003. The stringent hiring process aligns with the
firms’ mission to be the best. Recruiters and staffing consultants must possess
accounting, finance and recruiting experience and demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit.
“We hire business partners, not employees,” Wong emphasizes. By the end of 2004, the
