Today NHS, through its subsidiaries, is the largest community-based, non-profit human services organization in the country. More than 10,500 staff provide care to 50,000 adults and children throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Louisiana. NHS has developed a unique continuum of care providing services in the areas of mental health, addictive diseases, education, juvenile justice, foster care and permanency, autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities and many more specialized programs.

    The NHS Continuum of Care
    Addictive Diseases
    NHS provides comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment for adults and adolescents struggling with addictions in both clinical and community-based settings.

    Autism
    NHS provides behavioral health services to children and families with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD), specifically autism, PDD-nos, and asperger’s syndrome.

    Education
    NHS offers individualized learning experiences to children with special needs including alternative Education, autism Education, emotional supports, Early intervention, special Education and student assistance Programs.

    Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
    A variety of services including residential and day programs are aimed at assisting individuals with intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to become more self-sufficient and utilize self-directed supports.

    Juvenile Justice
    A continuum of services are available for adjudicated youth on a 168-acre campus in rural Pennsylvania featuring open and secure options, as well as specialized initiatives providing opportunities to receive therapeutic care and learn the skills necessary to become productive members in their communities.

    Mental Health Services
    NHS provides recovery-focused treatment, services, and support to children and adults in both community and site-based settings. Services include outpatient, case management, supported employment, and residential,

    Specialized Services
    NHS offers a variety of specialized services including supports for Elder Care, individuals diagnosed with a traumatic Brain injury, and outpatient Gambling addictions.

    Treatment Foster Care/Adoption
    NHS specializes in foster care and permanency placement for children with developmental and/or behavioral challenges who are unable to live with their biological families.
