SCAN Health Plan

Overview
SCAN Health Plan is a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan focused solely on the unique needs of seniors. A not-for-profit organization, SCAN is dedicated to helping our members meet the challenges of aging by providing personal service, expert guidance, and the benefits they need to maintain their health and independence.
Culture
SCAN is the fourth largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage health plan in the United States. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, we have approximately 1,100 employees and serve close to 130,000 members in California and Arizona. All SCAN employees share a dedication to the company’s mission: to find innovative ways to enhance seniors' ability to manage their health and to continue to control where and how they live. To that end, every employee goes through our award-winning “Trading Ages” senior sensitivity training. This interactive program gives participants a sense of the physical and emotional challenges seniors face on a daily basis – and, we think, gives SCAN employees a level of compassion that is unique in the industry.
Our Beginning
SCAN was founded in 1977 by a group of Long Beach senior activists who were frustrated by their limited access to services and wanted an organization that addressed their specific needs. Together with a group of experts in medicine, gerontology, psychology and social services, they formed the Senior Care Action Network, now known as SCAN Health Plan.
The Future
By 2030, people aged 65 and older are expected to make up 20% of the population. Our company offers an innovative answer to the question of how to care for an increasing number of older Americans. SCAN is looking for people who are as dedicated as we are to improving the lives of seniors by providing the services and support they need as they age.
