“One of our strengths is found in our commitment to serve a diverse customer population with diverse teams of associates.”
About BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC
Harvey S. Firestone (1868-1938) founded The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, in August 1900, and started marketing solid rubber tires for carriage wheels. Firestone joined the retail store arena offering basic car service and tire sales in the mid-1920s when the original Firestone Service Centers were opened.
Bridgestone Corporation, founded in 1931 in Kurume, Japan, purchased Firestone in 1988, transforming the company into the world’s largest manufacturer of tires and other rubber products. Bridgestone and Firestone operations in the Americas were consolidated in 1990 as Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.
In July 2003, BFRC combined GCR Truck Tire Centers and C&F Tire Centers to build a stronger commercial tire and service organization under the name BFRC Commercial Tire Group. This new entity consists of 192 store locations and 29 manufacturing locations in the United States and Canada.
Today, BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC and its subsidiaries employ approximately 22,000 associates in North America. BFRC consists of more than 2,200 company-owned consumer and commercial stores in the United States and Canada as well as the company’s own credit card operations. The store channels include Firestone Complete Auto Care, Morgan Tire / Tires Plus, and GCR Truck Tire Centers.
Today BFRC operates the largest number of company-owned full-line automotive retail generalist stores in the world.

Firestone Complete Auto Care does more than provide Maintenance, Repairs and Tires. Firestone Complete Auto Care gets involved each and every day through local and national programs to improve the lives of individuals, groups and even entire communities.
Below are just a few of the many causes and organizations in which your local Firestone Complete Auto Care stores are involved.
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children / Missing Kids
Firestone Complete Auto Care is proud to be affiliated with the exclusive sponsorship of the age-progressed cases featured on ADVO's "Have You Seen Me?®" postcards by subsidizing the costs associated with photo preparation, forensic artists and other technology used to create the age-progressed photos.
Programs that help improve driver safety
One of our goals at Firestone Complete Auto Care is to make car care easier for drivers. Another is to help keep them and their families safer while driving on the roads. Through various programs in which we are involved, Firestone Complete Auto Care is helping give back the communities we call home.
Programs That Help Protect and Improve the Environment
At Firestone Complete Auto Care, we know that everything we do today will affect the generations of tomorrow. So we take great measures to ensure that the way we run our business doesn’t harm our communities.
From employing strict recycling policies at our Firestone Complete Auto Care stores and in our service bays, to encouraging environmental stewardship through our partnerships and education programs, we are continually seeking ways to enhance rather than harm our environment. Through ongoing education programs, our teammates learn to properly handle used tires, oil, batteries, antifreeze, Freon and auto parts and even reuse and recycle whenever possible.
Firestone Complete Auto Care is committed to being not only a good place to bring your vehicle for Maintenance, Repairs and Tires, but a good neighbor to have as well.
Keep America Beautiful / Great American Clean-Up
Firestone Complete Auto Care is pitching in again this year to help clean up communities across the country as part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup. For the fifth consecutive year, its parent company BFS Retail & Commercial Operations, LLC (BFRC) will serve as a national sponsor of the cleanup event.
Firestone Complete Auto Care stores – will:
• Accept do-it-yourselfer used engine oil from the public for proper recycling at no charge.
• Accept do-it-yourselfer automotive batteries from the public for proper recycling at no charge.
• Accept scrap tires collected during organized community clean-up days for proper recycling at no charge.
BFRC’s retail stores along with other plants and facilities operated by its parent company, Bridgestone Americas Holdings, Inc., will participate in locally organized community cleanup events. Teammates will volunteer their time to help keep communities beautiful.
The Great American Cleanup, which runs from March through May, is the nation’s largest organized cleanup and community improvement program. President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush are again serving as the program’s honorary chairpersons. In 2005, volunteers collected an unprecedented 2.1 million scrap tires for recycling; picked up more than 120 million pounds of litter and debris; cleaned 176,000 miles of roads, streets and highways; and planted more than 4.3 million trees, flowers and bulbs in just three months.
BFRC embraces a wide variety of environmental programs and commitments, including recycling scrap tires, oil, oil filters, antifreeze, air conditioning refrigerant, batteries and lead wheel weights, as well as other items. Most collected scrap tires will be recycled into beneficial uses such as construction material, fuel and rubberized surfaces for playgrounds or roads.

Automotive service is the largest part of BFRC’s business, accounting for approximately 50 percent of sales with tire and financial services making up the rest. Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire manufactures Bridgestone, Firestone, and Dayton truck tires along with tires for virtually every wheeled vehicle made. In fact, more than 8,000 different types and sizes of tires from a 13-foot-tall giant radial for earthmoving equipment to a kart tire that stands only 10 inches high - are provided to customers around the world.
As a premium, technology-driven consumer tire brand, Bridgestone is the choice for many of the world’s most prestigious cars. Firestone is known in the United States as “America’s Tire Since 1900,” and also, “Firestone -- the Legend,” referencing its success in Indy® racing and domination throughout the series’ history. In addition to tires, both the Bridgestone and Firestone brands are recognized internationally for producing a variety of quality products and services, including air springs, building materials, synthetic and natural rubber, and industrial fibers and textiles.
