HELP FIGHT BREAST CANCER; “BRING A FRIEND” TO A PAMPERED CHEF COOKING SHOW IN MAY
Addison, Ill., May 1, 2006 — Over 212,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the United States this year. Chances are you, or someone you know, has been affected by this disease. That’s why this May, The Pampered Chef is once again collaborating with the American Cancer Society® to help increase awareness of the importance of early detection and raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
Since 2000, The Pampered Chef’s Help Whip Cancer campaign has raised more than $4.3 million for the American Cancer Society. Celebrating the seventh year of the Help Whip Cancer campaign, The Pampered Chef is encouraging customers to bring a friend to May Cooking Shows or purchase specially designed products during the month of May. These efforts can double the impact and the awareness of the campaign.
The American Cancer Society estimates that about 41,000 women will die of breast cancer in 2006. These are sobering numbers. However, the good news is that death rates from breast cancer declined by an average of 2.3 percent per year from 1990-2002. These decreases are due to early detection, and better treatment options. Nationwide, breast cancer is now being detected earlier when it’s most treatable, thanks to programs such as the Help Whip Cancer campaign.
