Ohio National Named Top Workplace in
Cincinnati for FIFTH Time

- For the fourth year, Ohio National
Financial Services has been named the “#1 Top Workplace (Large Company)” in
Cincinnati, making a total of five consecutive years for the company to be
named among the top workplaces in the Tristate (as ranked in the June 15, 2014,
issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer.)

high percentage of long-term employees and low turnover rate. More than 250
associates have joined Ohio National since the economic downturn in 2008. Of
its 975 employees, approximately 11.5 percent have been with Ohio National 20
years or more and 40 percent have been with Ohio National for more than 10
average, Ohio National experiences a voluntary turnover rate that is about half
the industry average. In the past 12 months, the turn-over rate at Ohio
National has been very low. Less than five percent of employees left Ohio
National to seek employment elsewhere.
National continues to experience significant sales growth in its core product
areas. For the 24th consecutive year, Ohio National grew its individual life
insurance sales in 2013. An unmatched record in the industry, a record-breaking
total of $135.4 million of new annual premium was reported for individual life
insurance, up 6.9 percent from 2012. Variable annuity sales totaled $2.4
billion. Core earnings grew to a record $205.7 million
National’s community engagement also contributes to its strong corporate
culture. Ohio National’s 10th Habitat for Humanity home was constructed in
Cincinnati during 2013. In recognition of its centennial in 2009, Ohio National
made a $780,000 gift to Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity, the largest one-time
gift in the local group’s history. The funds were designated for the
construction of 10 homes over five years in several Cincinnati neighborhoods.
Since its inception in 1987, the Ohio National Foundation has donated more than
$16 million to non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Ohio National donated more than $40,000 to enrich the lives of children with
life-threatening medical conditions through an ongoing agreement with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation®, bringing a total of more than $170,000 donated to
Make-A-Wish® for the past three years of the program. During 2013, 4,051 Ohio National
contract owners consented to e-delivery of their prospectuses and
annual/semiannual reports. By electing this option, these individuals have
chosen a delivery option that’s ecofriendly. In turn, Ohio National makes a $10
donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® for each individual variable product
owner switching to paperless delivery.
Survey Background: Earlier in the
year, a confidential survey was sent to all Cincinnati-based Ohio National
associates, and the Top Workplace results were based solely on those responses
given. At Ohio National, 87 percent of associates chose to complete the survey.
This is the fifth year the Top Workplaces project was sponsored by Enquirer
Media and conducted by survey partner WorkplaceDynamics, a firm which has
surveyed thousands of companies across the country since 2006. In Cincinnati,
159 companies participated in the survey this year.
