Two of Hillside's service affiliates, Crestwood Children’s Center and Hillside Children's Center, trace their roots to the 19th century, when they were founded as a hospital for infants and an orphanage, respectively. Today, Hillside Family of Agencies functions as an efficient system of care consisting of affiliates Crestwood Children's Center, Crestwood Children's Foundation, Hillside Children's Center, Hillside Children's Foundation, Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection and Snell Farm Children's Center. Our diverse, skilled workforce is dedicated to serving the needs of youth through providing child welfare, mental health, developmental disabilities, youth development, juvenile justice, and special education services. One of the largest employers headquartered in Monroe County, Hillside Family of Agencies retains more than 2,000 staff members who work under the direction of President and CEO Dennis Richardson in providing a variety of services to more than 7,100 families on an annual basis. These services are provided by: Crestwood Children's Center - Originally founded in 1885 as Infants Summer Hospital, it changed its mission in 1958 to serving children with serious emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders. Crestwood serves children from birth through 21 years of age in services including day treatment education, outpatient treatment, and residential treatment. Hillside Children's Center - Dating back to its founding in 1837 as Rochester Female Association for the Relief of Orphans and Destitute Children, Hillside Children's Center has now been serving youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders for decades. Services include therapeutic foster care, adoption, residential, day treatment, juvenile justice, developmental disabilities, preventive, independent living, and school-based services. Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection - Founded by Wegmans Food Markets in 1987 and transferred to Hillside in 1996, Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection provides support to middle and high school students in Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo and Maryland at risk of dropping out of school. Students receive mentoring; training in job skills, career readiness, and volunteerism; and academic and social supports. Snell Farm Children’s Center - Beginning operations in 1973 as Snell Farm, Snell Farm Children’s Center provides specialized residential treatment for adolescent boys who have sexually abusive behavior. It is located on a rural residential campus eight miles north of Bath, New York. Two foundations support our service affiliates: Crestwood Children's Foundation - Through funds raised locally from individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations, Crestwood Children’s Foundation supports the mission of Crestwood Children's Center by providing program, capital, and endowment dollars. The Foundation also oversees and manages the investment portfolio for Crestwood Children's Center. Hillside Children's Foundation - Hillside Children's Foundation supports the mission of Hillside Children's Center and Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection by raising program, capital, and endowment funds. Funds are raised through the support of individuals, corporations, foundations, and community organizations. These funds provide services, equipment, and facilities to serve the growing number of children and families in need.
