THERE’S MORE TO US THAN YOU THINK If you’re the kind of person who strives to make a difference, you need a place to thrive. And if you live to work hard and play hard, you need somewhere that can balance the two. Why get buried in corporate culture? Join the team that digs your superstar spirit, craves your ideas, and lets you write your own success story. You’ll love Quicken Loans. The work is rewarding, and the difference you’ll make is big. Crazy big.
Who we areQuicken Loans is one of the largest full-service residential mortgage lenders in the United States. We’re America’s #1 Online Mortgage Lender, close loans in all 50 states, and have 27 years of experience in the industry. In 2011, we closed a company record $30 billion in home loans. With more than 5,000 team members, we’re keeping our clients smiling with an amazing mortgage experience. How we’re differentUnlike other companies, for us “big” doesn’t mean boring. Meet the anti-corporate culture of Quicken Loans where there’s no daunting hierarchy, “boss” is a four-letter word, and if you work hard, you’re the one who will reap the rewards. We offer sweet perks that you’ll love, and they’ll help you grow your career. More than any other place you could work, we’re dedicated to sharpening your skills and helping you grow as a person (and trust us, you’ll have a darn good time along the way). It’s no shocker we’re consistently ranked near the top of FORTUNE Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in America, and we’ve been in the top 30 for nine years running! You’ll also see us on Computerworld Magazine’s list of top ten places to work in IT three years running, ranking as high as number one! Crain’s Detroit Business even says we’re one of Michigan’s Coolest Places to Work. We’d have to agree.
We've created a fun (SUPER-DUPER FUN!) atmosphere where people enjoy coming to work. What more can you ask for, right? Our structure is pretty flat. So flat, there’s a chance the CEO will be passing you by saying “Hi there, [YOUR NAME HERE]!” At Quicken Loans, you’ll appreciate the strong emphasis on professional and personal development, with programs that include a personal empowerment coach, leadership training and tuition assistance for higher education. But while all these things contribute to a stupendous work environment, team members say it’s the ability to make a difference that keeps them pumped up to get out of bed every day. There’s so much more to our culture, and you won’t believe it until you see it.
Quicken Loans offers one of the biggest and best benefits packages out there, including medical, dental, life and vision coverage, 401k with 75% employer match (up to $2,500 annually), a flexible spending account, and more! We want your family to be protected too, so our benefits don’t stop with you, and include same-sex domestic partner benefits.
Remember those lists we’re on from a few familiar organizations – FORTUNE, Computerworld, and Crain’s Detroit Business? Our unique perks keep Quicken Loans on those lists. We have an onsite, state-of-the-art gym, discounted concert and sporting event tickets, fun events (think luaus and Mardi Gras!), after-work sports leagues – even giveaways like trips to Las Vegas!
With all of this, we can’t think of a more exciting place to work. We LOVE our team members, and think it’s important that people work at a company where they jump out of bed in the morning and proclaim, “YIPPEE! I can’t wait to go to work!”
Everything we do is ENGINEERED TO AMAZE. Our client-focused culture ignites passion, accelerates results, and leads folks to the right decision with certainty. Our brand is our reputation. It’s the promise we make – so it has to be the promise we ALWAYS keep! But how do we do this? Well, it’s pretty simple. In everything we do, we ask ourselves, “Is this engineered to amaze?” It’s all fueled by our ISMs – the ideals we live by that make Quicken Loans a competitive and AWESOME place to work! By seeing the amazing outcome we want for our clients (and believing in it!), we’ve fine-tuned our processes, technologies, products, and the entire client experience. This promise is our guiding light, a core philosophy, and the way we think about our business every day.
At Quicken Loans, we don’t just show you the slushie machine and your list of clients then wish you good luck with a friendly shove. As a team member, you’ll get training that’ll transform you into a home loan wiz chock full of knowledge! You’ll love that the learning, growth, and support never ends here. We always empower you to make a difference and be THE DIFF!
Yep, we said perks. We offer one of the most highly competitive benefits packages available. Our team members get medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k with employer match, a flexible spending account, and more! We wouldn’t be named to FORTUNE magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" in America if it weren’t for the company perks. From referral bonuses to basketball tickets, barbecues, and so much more – there’s just no better place to be! Dan Gilbert is Founder and Chairman of Quicken Loans Inc., the nation’s largest online home lender and a top-five retail lender in the United States.
Dan founded Rock Financial in 1985. The company grew into Quicken Loans, one of the largest independent mortgage lenders in the country and, in the late 1990s, launched its Internet strategy and quickly positioned itself as the fastest growing direct mortgage lender on the Internet.
Dan is also majority owner of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, the NBA Development League’s Canton (Ohio) Charge, the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Lake Erie Monsters, and the Arena Football League’s (AFL) Cleveland Gladiators, as well as the operator of the Quicken Loans Arena (“The Q”) in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bill Emerson is Chief Executive Officer of Quicken Loans Inc., the nation’s largest online home lender. Bill is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and growth of Quicken Loans.
Bill joined the company in 1993 as a mortgage banker. His passion and commitment for learning and growing, and his zeal for taking care of clients, helped him take on many roles at the company. He pioneered Dan Gilbert’s Mortgage-In-A-Box concept, a way of doing business over the phone, which led to the centralized business model that Quicken Loans utilizes today.
Bill’s leadership ability has afforded him the opportunity to run several business units at Quicken Loans, including the early stages of the company’s web center and a joint venture with Michigan National Bank. Bill also led all mortgage operations for the company, where he was responsible for driving performance within all Quicken Loans businesses.
Jay Farner is President and Chief Marketing Officer of Quicken Loans. Jay is responsible for leveraging the synergies between the company’s marketing and mortgage banking operations. This strategic alliance has played a key role in the company’s record $30 billion in retail home loan volume in 2011.
In addition, Jay serves as Portfolio Manager for the Quicken Loans Family of Companies, and is a director on several of the family’s Boards, including Cellerant, a biotechnology company focused on developing human therapeutics for blood-related disorders and cancer; Sociocast, an intelligence platform providing real-time audience data and user behavior to content companies and advertisers; ePrize, the leader in the interactive promotions industry; and Protect America, a leading home security company using cutting-edge technology to provide 24-hour protection for its customers.
Bob Walters is Chief Economist and Vice President of the Capital Markets Group for Quicken Loans Inc. In this position, he develops new products and ensures all products meet investors’ standards for quality. Walters joined Quicken Loans, then Rock Financial, in 1996 after holding positions at both NBD Bank (now owned by JPMorgan Chase & Co.) and DMR Financial Services.
Bob often is quoted on mortgage and personal finance issues by media including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Reuters, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, MarketWatch, and many others.
We’ve got a special formula to keep Quicken Loans a growing, thriving and amazing place to work – our ISMs. Having a lot more to do with WHO we are than WHAT we do, no matter where in our family of companies you work, our ISMs are the foundation and the philosophy we live by.
For example, one of our ISMs is “Obsessed With Finding A Better Way.”
What does that mean?
Simply put, our mission is a never-ending quest to find a better way for every process and everything we touch. If it’s good, let’s make it great. If it’s great, let’s take it to an even higher level. Don’t settle for less. In fact, don’t settle at all. “Finding a better way” is not something we do on the side or when we get time. Rather, it’s a key responsibility for every one of our team members. It’s our passion…our way of living…our obsession.
Every second counts.
Do the right thing.
Innovation is rewarded. Execution is worshipped.
Simplicity is genius.
We eat our own dog food.
Numbers and money follow; they do not lead.
A penny saved is a penny.
We’ll figure it out.
You’ll see it when you believe it.
You have to take the roast out of the oven.
We are the “they.”
It’s not about WHO is right, it’s about WHAT is right.
Ignore the noise.
Obsessed with finding a better way.
Every client. Every time. No exceptions. No excuses.
Responding with a sense of urgency is the ante to play.
The inches we need are everywhere around us.
Always raising our level of awareness.
