Overview
Goodwill is more than a thrift store or donation center. It is a circle of hope, dignity and strength. When you give to Goodwill or buy from our stores you help us fulfill our mission of providing vocational opportunities to people with barriers to employment.

Thanks to your donations and purchases, we are able to help people find good jobs, offer employment to individuals with mild to profound disabilities, and provide free English classes to those who may be new to the language. Last year alone, Goodwill served more than 40,000 people with barriers to employment.

Together, we are changing lives, giving back to the community, and recycling used goods throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. We invite you to learn more about our services and how you can help us complete the circle of hope.

Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette currently operates 44 retail stores, four outlets, two online retail locations, and nearly 60 attended donation centers.
Career Opportunities
Those who work at Goodwill get more than a paycheck, they go home with a sense of pride, dignity, and a job well done. They know they are making a difference in the community.

At Goodwill, we help people with barriers to employment find meaningful work. We strive to help people find good jobs in one of our Goodwill retail or donation centers, or outside Goodwill with another employer. Our employment specialists will do their best to put you to work in one of our locations, or help you find employment through the Goodwill Job Connection Program. Please call (503) 238-6100 for assistance. At Goodwill, we take pride in serving you and others in the community.

Goodwill Is Sustainable- Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette receives and sorts through thousands of pounds of gently used clothes and other household items every day. Our recycling system is so effective that less than 13% of donated items end up as waste, helping keep millions of pounds of goods from polluting the Earth each year

Derek Chan - A Man with Boundless Energy and a Continuous Smile

“He is always full of positive energy, never complains and is so hard working.” Derek Chan faces life with a developmental disability and a serious medical issue. But as evident in the following story, he takes on each challenge with energy, a positive outlook and a willingness to work hard. After graduating from Centennial High School, Derek enrolled in college classes to acquire skills in cooking, budgeting, responding to emergencies and doing laundry. Self-confident in his newly acquired life skills and fully recovered from a kidney transplant, Derek moved into his own apartment. In April 2007, Derek entered our Portland Production and Contracts program for evaluation and to build his vocational skills. Just three months later, he was prepared to take on the challenge of working in a Goodwill store.

The Story of Thomas Hill: Grit and Luck

His boss says there isn’t anyone at work Thomas doesn’t match in pace and stamina.
He thought it was only some type of congestion. He was coughing some, his chest had tightness. Questionable X-Rays led to a CAT scan which revealed far worse than the expected pneumonia. “Turns out I had stage four cancer in three places – my lungs, spleen and kidneys.” Thomas Hill, who was well into his 60’s, got the news that treatment had to start the very next day. “The doctor said the cancer cells were aggressive and growing quickly.” He began a six-month chemotherapy regimen almost immediately. The journey to wellness was as hard as any he haad taken in his life.
