Role: SmartSource is seeking Sr. Desktop Technician for a 2+ month opportunity located in Chicago, IL. This is a request for a Senior Desktop Technician with EXCELLENT INTERPERSONAL AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. This experienced technician will serve as a part of the client desktop support team and may be called upon to share their ideas and experience in the desktop support best practices. The client has requested this Sr Tech for 8 weeks with the explicit intent of extending to 12 months if they are satisfied with their performance.

Looking for a good and solid desktop support person that has documented experience (preferably in corporate environments) that is also familiar with the fundamentals of PROJECT MANAGEMENT. For example, they need to be able to explain how the project approach looks to convert employees from WIN XP to WIN 7 in execution. This will be explored in the interview, and being able to be conversant around project management and approach is critical - not just the technical ability to do the work, but also articulate the plan.

Key responsibilities are:
• Desktop/laptop end-user support and ticket resolution
• Application loading and packaging
• Support OS and software upgrade projects, including Symantec client upgrades.
• Desktop/laptop setup and configuration
• Desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting.
• Provide related assistance to the Client IT department to help maintain and enhance the desktop support environment and services in accordance with Best Practices identified by the Client. This assistance includes:
• Providing input on the creation and/or refinement of optimal Desktop Support SLAs
• Providing input on desktop/laptop employee offerings to reduce cost/improve productivity
• Providing input and documentation assistance with end user training materials
• Providing their input on other Desktop Support policies such as “Work from Home” and BYOD

• Must pass a criminal and drug background check prior to starting
• 3+ years professional experience working in the IT Field.
• High level of technical proficiency in microcomputer product areas a must.
• Familiarity with large account environments and protocol required.
• Working knowledge in major desktop operating systems (Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Apple OS X).
• Comfort and familiarity with to take units apart and re-assemble required.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills needed. Must have the ability to keep current with alternative systems and technology and make technology recommendations to management consistent with the company’s business and systems strategies.
• Ability to enter data into systems accurately required. Must have the ability to multitask with strong organization and time management skills.
• Must be able to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints within a timely fashion.
• Must have excellent communications and customer services skills
