Blow Molding Technician

Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the hands on operation of automated blow molding equipment, and the production of high-quality bottles in a safe and efficient manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verifies that raw materials and material requirements match product orders.

• Monitors raw material levels to ensure uninterrupted production.

• Clears bottle jams, adds labels, changes out gaylords, and dumps bottles into the grinder.

• Performs hourly quality control checks on bottles.

• Completes daily zone cleaning tasks for the line.

• Documents and enters all required information of downtime, scrap, and parts into PICS.

• Works with the Team Lead to identify the root cause of bottle defects and determine corrective actions.

• Performs basic troubleshooting of blow molding equipment.

• Completes set-ups and repairs on machinery in the designated work area.

• Completes daily and monthly preventative maintenance requirements.

• Meets all safety training requirements and procedures, and ensures all safety devices are on equipment.

• Maintains ISO, OSHA, and GMP standards.

• Reports quality or food safety issues to Supervisor.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma/GED required.

• Mechanically inclined.

• Basic knowledge of electrical concepts.

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts.

• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

• Blend of technical, interpersonal skills, and continuous learning through training.

• Associates degree in Plastics Technology, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical or a similar technical area is preferred; background experience will be considered.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Standing/walking continuously during entire shift. Frequently walking is performed at a moderate pace in order to respond to machine and equipment breakdown.

• Able to lift 40 lbs. continuously; and able to lift 70 lbs. occasionally with assistance.

• Postural activities include climbing, maneuvering, bending, stooping, kneeling. Crouching, crawling above, under and around machinery, equipment and conveyors continuously throughout entire shift.

• Reaching, handling, touching grasping machine parts, controls, control panels, levers, switches continuously while repairing machines.

• Continuously use the bilateral upper extremities to reach, handle, grip and grasp, push and pull, finger and feel, turn, wrench, etc. Forceful grasping, pinching, pushing, and pulling with hand tools to diagnose and repair machinery and equipment.

• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, platforms and scaffolding to repair machine and equipment frequently throughout entire shift.

• Ability to work in non-permit required confined spaces and at heights of 15’ to 20’.
