Job Description

Entry level full time/part time/relief support specialist positions working directly with active adults with Developmental Disabilities (DD) living in group home settings in the Rochester area.

Seeking self-motivated persons able to work all available shifts including days, evenings, overnights and weekends. Paid training including the successful completion of a medication certification program is required for all full and part time positions will be provided.

Previous DD experience preferred.  Excellent benefits including paid time off and free or low cost health care options for full time positions. Part time staff and per diem also share some of the same  benefits including 401k participation, time and half pay for certain holidays, paid training opportunities and employee discount progams.

Job Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

One year practical experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

 

·         Demonstrate ethical business practices, in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations.

·         Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Previous experience working with diverse populations, including low to moderate-income families.

·         Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.

·         Ability to travel in all weather conditions throughout the counties served.

·         Willingness to foster agency, department and program wide cooperation and team work through use of positive/constructive communication techniques.

·         Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in regards to all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records.      

·         Demonstrate ethical business practices, in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations.




  


·         Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution.

·         Possession a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.

·         Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.

·         Demonstrate full adherence to the CCCS Code of Conduct and all policies/procedures related to compliance.

·         Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.

·         Willingness and ability to work a combination of day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.

·         Ability to remain awake and alert throughout all work shifts.

·         Willingness to work both independently and as a member of a work team.

·         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

·         Ability to effectively communicate with persons with developmental disabilities through words, gestures or pictures.

·         Ability to effectively teach, monitor and assist persons with developmental disabilities.


Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:

·         Use hands to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment, including motor vehicle;

·         Stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach;

·         Climb up or down stairs;

·         Able to reach above or below shoulders;

·         Occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs;

·         Occasionally be required to perform or assist with Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) techniques.

·         Sitting at a desk or in a vehicle for long periods of time to perform certain job functions;

·         Be able to read write and interpret written documents;
