Position Overview:
The Lead Electrical Engineer has responsibility for preparation and coordination and of technical activities on assigned projects. The position plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates assigned engineering work, monitors work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices and standards, and ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants, including architects, engineers, developers, contractors, and clients.
 
The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned personnel are coordinating their activities with other project participants and that the requirements of the Contract are being satisfied. This position is expected to have significant technical knowledge and awareness to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
 
This position assists the Project Manager in the day-to-day interaction with the Client’s designated representative and jurisdictional agency personnel, and coordinates all internal activities performed by engineering staff. The Lead Electrical Engineer is also responsible for managing electrical staff, allocating resources, and directing the activities of other engineers to successfully execute projects. Along with creating manpower workload, this position may mentor and train staff, and assist with interview and evaluations of potential key hires.
 
Typical duties will include but not limited to the preparation of the following:
1. Prepare, review and oversee complete drawings and specifications.
2. Communicate and coordinate with electric, telecom, and cable utility companies.
3. Manage electrical staff, allocate resources, and direct the activities of other engineers.
4. Mentor and train electrical staff.
5. Coordinate with other disciplines including architects, engineers, developers, contractors and clients.
6. Perform all phases of electrical consulting including field investigation, design studies, construction documents and construction administration.
 
Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
1. Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of projects.
2. Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects.
3. Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
4. Budget monitoring and trend tracking.
5. Participate in Client/Contractor meetings and resolving technical project issues.
6. Ensure effective engineering and Client communications.
7. Draft plans in AutoCAD and/or REVIT as required for each project.


Job Requirements



Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

5. Participate in Client/Contractor meetings and resolving technical project issues.

7. Draft plans in AutoCAD and/or REVIT as required for each project.
 
Education/Experience:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
2. 10+ years of consulting design and management experience.
3. Experience supervising other engineers, mentoring staff, and allocating manpower/workload resources.
4. Experience designing electrical distribution systems for commercial buildings including power distribution, lighting and controls.
5. Experience with commercial, educational, hospitality, healthcare, data center and retail projects.
6. Project management experience desired.
 
Skills and Special Requirements/ Licensing:
1. Licensed P.E. required.
2. AutoCAD skills required.
3. Autodesk REVIT MEP skills highly desired.
4. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code, related building and energy codes, LEED and green building requirements.
